Increase the Inflow of Energy
Now that I have opened the conversation discussing energy outflows and ROI, let’s talk more about the inflows. Most people who come into my practice mention that they want to have more energy. Personally I often receive feedback that I am “naturally” a very high-energy person. I always smile and say thank you. I do function on a very high level of energy most of the time, but it is not a secret, and I don’t consider myself to be special in any way or wired any differently. For me, I have been doing a lot of working on being intentional with how I spend my energy, and I am also continuously working on increasing my capacity to receive energy, to allow more energy to flow into my system.
If this sounds a little too conceptual, let me explain.
The first law of thermodynamics states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only change form. What that means for you is that energy is everywhere and you choose how much energy you intake into your system. Some of that energy comes in from food and drinks. Nutritionists have been talking about the importance of the “right” calories for years, and there are numerous resources that you can look up for guidance with this. However, as a coach I notice that there are so many other areas to look to increase the capacity to intake and function on more energy. You can think of your capacity for how much energy you can receive and allow to pass through as voltage on a light bulb. Let’s say I am used to functioning as a 60-watt light bulb, but I have this vision for a new business that will require me to shine more brightly so I can light up a bigger space, which will, in turn, require me to function at 150 watts. If I just “plug in” and let that much current run through my metaphorical light bulb, I will burn out very quickly. However, as a human, since my set points are adjustable, I can stretch and expand my ability to hold and function on higher and higher levels of energy. The key is to do it intentionally, gently, and consistently, in order to not to fry my circuits too quickly. And that is my intention for this section, to share some tools that I use with clients and myself to increase the capacity for higher energy inflow so that it’s aligned with and supports the energy requirements of your Sacred YES vision.
One of the first areas that I invite the clients to analyze is their relationship with receiving and their capacity to receive. Before I even bring this up, I watch to see how the client responds to compliments or acknowledgments. Can the client gracefully receive opportunities, praise, money, or even a hug? These may sound unrelated, but in my experience, clients’ openness to receive is one of the key factors to functioning on a higher level of energy.
